There is free camping and meals at the race venue for volunteers so bear that in mind if you aren’t local and would like to make a weekend of it! No need to book or let us know, just come along and follow the signs/marshals and once settled in come to our race stores.

IF you are coming to the race venue to check in first, then our race stores area is the place you need to go to - this is the marquee in the campervan field, ‘behind’ the rugby clubhouse. what3words location You can also just go straight to the checkpoint location at the planned time and don’t necessarily NEED to come to the venue first!

Henley CP

Is about 25 mins drive from the race venue, and is between Midhurst and Fernhurst.

DO NOT google Henley and confuse this with the other one that is on the Thames!

Postcode GU27 3HQ  will get you near the location, and the what 3 words ref is   horizons.egging.reclining

The checkpoint is set up in the big layby parking area on the sharp / switchback corner.

  • Aim to arrive at CP to set up for 6.30 am please

  • The CP supplies & equipment should arrive around then if coming separately

  • 1st runner should be about 7.30 am (75k start is 6.30am, about 8 miles away)

  • If you have a mini portable speaker and i-pod / phone you can play any music through then feel free to bring it for the checkpoint (not too loud though please, as there are houses close-by!)

  • RETIRING RUNNERS

    • Collect their timing dibber from them and keep safe as we need them back!

    • Call through via contacts sheet to organise pick up for them if they ned it

    • TEXT Gordon with their race number telling him they’ve dropped out - IMPORTANT - we need to know their whereabouts / status in the event

  • Last runner is usually around 1.30 pm - you can use the timing link on the results page to see how many more runners are left to come to the CP

  • Event Crew T-shirts, Hi Viz & Event contacts sheet are in the CP supplies that are brought out to you. If you need re-supply, have queries or emergencies the phone numbers you need are on there.

Nicky normally comes round to help get the CP's set up so she will show you the ropes and the plan!

The race uses the PURPLE ‘Tail’ permanent way-markers for the Trail, and runners usually come up the gravel driveway to the road just above the CP, then down to you on the hairpin, then run down the road away from the CP - tell them to turn RIGHT when they get to the pub!

Plus, don’t forget - we like to give our helpers FREE ENTRY to next years race! If you would like to run in next years Serpent Trail then email Tom ( tom@freedom-racing.co.uk ) and we can get you added to a race as thanks for your help in coming to be part of the event and encouraging and looking after all the runners so well! :-)
