Marshal position 6 - Nyewood / Serpent Jct opposite village green
Thanks again for offering to come and help out at the Serpent Trail!
This location is a route marshal in Nyewood village, about 10-15 mins drive from the venue.
The run route heads south along the road through the village, and runners need to turn RIGHT opposite the village green / layby and go over the stile to run down a gravel track between 2 houses. (run route in blue line on map)
If you could please be at this turning to make sure runners leave the road and join the path.

Can you please be at this marshal spot for 12.15pm
First, please come to the event venue at Petersfield Rugby Club (Google maps; https://maps.app.goo.gl/r15xRJQ61GKzhizH7 )
Come to the Marshal check-in, at our race stores area - this is set up in the club car park, you will see our big trailer and shelters.
Here you will collect your event crew T shirt, Hi Viz vest (to return later please!), Emergency Action plan sheet of info/phone numbers and meal voucher for use before/after your shift
Please come prepared for a day of marshalling; consider a folding chair, sun cream, extra clothes/waterproofs and some snacks & a drink - we should have some extra snacks you can take too!
It’d be great if you could be there until 6-7pm
Please give tons of encouragement to all the runners, and be a cheery informative marshal of the event for any passers by! :-)
The race follows the PURPLE ‘Tail’ direction of permanent way-markers for the Serpent Trail, and we also have our temporary race signage alongside these for the race.
They are checked before the race starts but please make sure all is well with the signs as you are leaving the spot - the last runners will still be needing them until much later in the day!
The sweeper runner collects our signs and we then double check the Trail for signage & litter in the days following the event.
Lastly, THANKYOU for coming and getting involved - your presence is a massive boost to the runners and great safety feature.
Don’t forget - as extra thanks for helping out with the event you get a FREE entry to next years race, just email us in the autumn once entries have opened! :-)
